Mark Twain was right. Those of us who engage in authentic travels have met likable people all over the world. We’re too experienced to succumb to stereotypes, and we know that "different" is not synonymous with "wrong."

Words like "cooperation, caring, and global community" describe our world view.

The fact that we are real travelers – that we move from country to country treating others with kindness and respect – makes us worthy representatives of our home countries and our cultures. We are, perhaps unintentionally, ambassadors of peace.

Some folks opt to take it even further – and travel with the specific purpose of making a difference in the developing world. In fact, "voluntourism" is one of the hottest new trends in travel. But wait – before the thought of swinging a hammer makes you click on the X in the upper corner of this page – let me describe the various options.
